Glossy Black Cockatoo

Glossy Black Cockatoo

The Glossy Black-Cockatoo is the smallest of the five black-cockatoos. Populations have declined, with local extinctions and range contraction mainly caused by clearing of habitat. More frequent and intense fires in south-eastern Australia since settlement have also reduced suitable habitat. Grazing, which suppresses casuarina regeneration, and forestry practices that remove casuarina also contribute to declines.
